Take your Office supplies to next level using this DIY

Nowadays you get a colorful office supplies compared to the normal boring or plain ones but when you look at the price tag you settle for the normal one.But today I am going to show how you can customize your office supplies to suit your need and also helps to keep yourself organized with these handmade office supplies.

Thumb tacks :
I got the whole idea of doing this post when I was making the DIY thumb tack Wall art.I thought instead using the plain thumb tacks how will it be to have a thumb tacks for a specific tasks. It will also be easy to organize the papers we are pinning to the bulletin board.Interesting ,right ?? So ,I thought I can make that using clay and stamps.Lets see how to do that.

Materials Required :
Polymer clay of various colours (I used premo sculpey )
clay roller (You can use any round object to roll the clay)
Blade (Even plastic knife works)
Thumb tacks
Super glue
Alphabet stamps (I got mine in A.C.Moore for $1)
Black Acrylic paint & brush

Step 1: Soften your clay by rolling and folding it for couple of times.Roll the clay flat using the roller.

Step 2: Stamp the task you want the thumb tack for.I made mine as Appointments ,To-do , Reminders, Meeting, etc. You can make these to suit your needs. You can also make one for each subject and keep your assignments sheets organized. It is perfect for back to school. And also a great idea for a teacher Appreciation gift.
Step 3: Cut around the stamped area to make perfect shape.

Step 4: Turn it to the back and make a impression of thumb tack , so that it will be easier to stick the thumb tack to clay

Step 5: Preheat the oven for 275F and bake the clay  for 45 minutes.(Refer your package).
Step 6: This step is optional. To make the fonts legible ,paint over the clay piece and wipe out with the paper towel.Alternatively, you can also paint the stamps and stamp it(In step 2).

Step 7: Add a drop of super glue at the back where you made an impression and stick the thumb tack to it.Ta da!!!Our new tasks thumb tacks are ready.

Colorful Lollipop Gem clips :
I made these clips with school children in mind but if there is no school going kid in your home ,you can still make this for your home office or as a gift for your hubby to keep his office papers organized.

Materials required :
Polymer clay of various colours (I used premo sculpey)
Gem clips
Markers

Step 1: Soften your clay by rolling and folding it for couple of times.Take a small amount of clay and mold it in a ball shape (As shown).

Step 2: Insert your gem clips inside the ball and flatten lightly with your thumb and forefinger to ensure the clip is secured well inside the ball of clay.

Step 3: This step is optional. You can use tooth pick and add designs all around the ball of clay as shown below.

Step 4: Preheat the oven for 275F and bake the clay  for 45 minutes.(Refer your package).

Step 5: Write the subject names with markers.Hey!!Now you have a colorful set of lollipop gem clips to organize your papers.

You won't believe me ,it was so easy to clip it into the paper by holding the clay compared to usual plain gem clips. Why not give a try? I am sure you will thank me for the colorful pops :)Oh!!Now I feel like eating lollipop :P

Binder clips :
I saw some colorful binder clips during my last visit to staples and I thought why not patterned binder clips and so I ended up making patterned one using scrapbook paper. Here is how.

Materials required :
Plain Binder clips
Mod podge
Scrapbook papers with different patterns

Step 1: Use a normal paper and cover the binder clip to measure.Cut out a template from that.

Step 2: Use the template and cut scrapbook paper to cover the binder clips.
Step 3: Apply mod podge on the binder clip and cover them with the scrapbook paper.

Step 4: Allow it to dry and apply a top coat to get a shiny finish.Your patterned binder clips are ready to use!!
