DIY Emoji Pumpkins Window Clings

What if pumpkins expressed its emotions? This random thought struck me a few days ago which finally ended up in DIY Emoji Pumpkins Window clings. I love emoji's and I have already mentioned it in my how to make emoji coin purses post so, I combined my random thought and love for emoji into these emoji pumpkins. I tried two methods to make these window clings. One is using puffy paint and another one is using hot glue. Both the ideas are easy and perfect. So without much ado, let's get to the making.

DIY window clings using puffy paint and hot glue gun

Materials Required :
For puffy paint method:
Puffy paint
Plastic bag or any shiny surface (I used the binder with plastic sleeves)
For hot glue method:
Glue gun and glue sticks
Parchment paper
Template
Acrylic paints in your desired colors or Nail polish in your favorite colors
Foam brush
Paint pens
Glue dots (Repositionable/temporary)

For puffy paint method :

Step 1: Insert the template into a binder sleeve. You can free hand the smiley you want in a normal paper or print the template I freehanded for you.Take the puffy paint in your desired color and outline
the shape .

Step 2: Fill the shape generously with puffy paint. If you apply a thin layer it is difficult to peel off once it dries, so squeeze a generous amount of paint to cover the template.

Step 3: Use black puffy paint to fill in the emoji details. Allow it dry for 24 hours and then peel it carefully from the plastic and stick it to your windows. Be careful while peeling, if you feel like it is difficult to peel or very light then apply another layer of paint and allow it to dry. Also, first lift out all the corners and then try to peel at an angle. Use only shiny plastic surface for making these clings as the wax paper makes the under surface dull which prevents it from sticking on to the windows.

As this method requires a lot of wait time, I thought I will show you another simple and quick method to makes these window clings using hot glue gun.

Hot glue method:

Step 1: Draw a pumpkin shape and use it as a template under the parchment paper. Squeeze an outline of hot glue and fill the shape with glue. Don't worry about the glue being not even. Once it cools down it will become even.

Step 2: Once the glue cools down, the glue shape comes off easily from the parchment paper. Use scissors to trim any unevenness and shape it as desired.

Step 3: Now you have two options to color these glue shapes. You can use normal acrylic paint and foam brush to paint these shapes or you can use nail polish to paint these shapes. You heard it right, I said nail polish. You can get some bright and vibrant colors in nail polish compared to the acrylic paint. I always have a set of $1 nail polish in my craft supply stash which I have used in many crafts like upcycling the flower vase, adding glam to hair accessories and also in hot glue earrings. This is also an easy way to get rid of your old nail polishes. Whichever supply you use, you will need 2 to 3 coats to get a close to opaque finish. If you are using acrylic paint, use dabbing motion to paint instead of normal paint strokes.

Step 4: Once the paint or nail polish dries, you can use paint pens to draw the emoji details on to the glue shapes. Or you can even use nail polish with a fine brush to add details. As I didn't have white paint pens , I used white nail polish to add the mask details for mask face emoji. Once it dries, use the repositionable /temporary glue dots to stick them on to the windows.
