DIY Invisible Letter Card for Valentine's day

I always wanted to try different interactive cards for all occasions. If you are a regular follower here, you probably might have read my snowman pull up card for Christmas. This time it is an invisible ink letter card. There are many ways to create invisible ink at home and you would have probably tried most of them in your science class. I tried almost all the ways and finally settled with crayon and marker pen to make this card. I will discuss why later in this post. Now let's start with the supplies list.

DIY Embroidered Clay Rings

Suddenly stroke an idea, How it will be if I combined clay and embroidery? And here is the result....DIY Embroidered Clay Rings. Usually, I post on Wednesday mornings but when a sudden idea strikes on Tuesday afternoon, you need some time for making, taking pictures, editing, etc,  right? And so, later on, Wednesday night once I am done with every step of making a post, here it is for you to enjoy my DIY Embroidered clay rings.

Simple polymer clay ring DIY

Materials Required :
Polymer clay (color of your choice) - I used premo sculpey
Rolling pin
Needle and embroidery floss
Cookie cutters (optional)
Dottie tool (optional)
Sharpie metallic markers (optional)
Scissors
Adjustable Ring blank
E-6000 glue

Step 1: Condition and roll the clay flat using rolling pin.

Step 2: Use cookie cutter and cut a shape of your choice. You can also use a xacto knife or just roll the clay into a snake shape and form alphabets to use in the rings. The choice is yours :)

Step 3: Use needle or any pointy tool to poke holes for the stitches.Plan your design before you actual start poking holes. For example, whether you are going to do cross stitch or back stitch or spell out a word. ( I have done a sample in each to give you a idea )

The white thing is called the dottie tool which I have mentioned.

Step 4: Once done with holes, bake your clay pieces at 275 F for 30 minutes (Refer your package for timings and temperature). Use a normal copy paper below your pieces to prevent shiny spots.

Step 5: Thread the needle with two / three strands of embroidery floss and secure the ends with knot.

Step 6: Start embroidering you clay piece with the thread by starting from back to front and ending it at the back with a knot.

Optional step : You can also use metallic sharpie to add some glam to your rings.

Step 7: Apply a dab of glue in the ring blank and secure it in the center back of the clay.Allow it to dry and Voila !! Your ring is ready to wear.

How easy was that ? You can do simple as well as complex patterns using this method. The Dottie tool I used was perfect to put holes but you can also use needle to make holes. Make sure to make the holes perfect before baking for easy embroidery :). What do you think about this rings? Let me know in the comments below. If you make this rings, what design will you make ?

Mixed metal jump rings Necklace - DIY

Are you ready to learn how to make a beautiful mixed metal necklace? This DIY is so easy that you need not know anything about jewelry basics or need not own any big jewelry tools. I am very excited as jewelry with mixed metals was on my to-do list for a long time and final today I got the opportunity to share with you all.Without much ado, let's start making.
DIY necklace using jump rings

Materials required:
4 mm Leather cord - 30 inches
7 mm End caps
6 mm jump rings or "O" rings in different metal tones
One 8 mm jump ring.
A Pendant of your choice
Pliers
E 6000
Ruler
Scissors

Step 1: Cut the leather cord into two - one as 14" and another as 16".(I decided to go with layered style and so I cut the leather cord into two but you can also go with single layer and also I wanted the necklace to be close to neck so I went with 14" and 16" but you can also go 16" and 18" but it is up to you.)

Step 2: Take 14" cord and start stringing the jump rings inside the cord in the order you desire.I went with black in the center and then silver, copper, and gold on the sides.I strung 25 jump rings in each metal tones.

Step 3: Open a 8 mm jump ring, by holding one side with pliers and twisting the other side towards you.Put the pendant inside the ring and close it by twisting the jump ring against you and aligning it with the other side. (I used a bigger jump ring here as by pendant was bigger in size. The 6 mm jump ring was not enough to hold the pendant when strung in the leather cord. So, you can use the same size of jump ring or a different size according to your preference.) Now , string the pendant to the  16" leather cord.

Step 4: Repeat the stringing the jump rings in the 16" leather cord, as you did in step 2. I strung 25 jump rings for the center(black) and 30 jump rings for all others metal tones.

Step 5: Take the end caps and fill it with E 6000 glue and insert the leather cords inside and allow it dry. Voila !! Your beautiful necklace is now ready to wear :)

Some extra points:
The 7 mm end cap was perfect to fit two strands of 4 mm leather cord.Just make the round leather cord flat by squeezing at the end with help of the pliers and then insert it into the end cap if you have trouble fitting the cord as such.

The 6 mm jump rings was easy to string inside the 4 mm leather cord but the 6 mm "O" rings were little tighter than the jump ring but it fits perfectly.(you can see the gold rings in the necklace). So, I would suggest getting 7 or 8 mm "O" rings if you are going to use "O" rings for all the metal tones and want to add a pendant in the center.

This is such an easy and simple necklace that anyone can do.What do you think? It is a gorgeous necklace that you can make one for yourself or may be as a gift for your girl friend for this valentine's day.
