DIY Tiered Spice Rack using cereal boxes

Are you looking for a solution to organize your spice containers? You have come to the right place. I have been cleaning closets at home and found a bunch of cereal boxes that I have been hoarding. It was a surprise to myself because I totally forgot that I have these boxes. I thought this will be the perfect time to use all those cereal boxes and come up with a new idea. Before all this lockdown came into action, I got few spice containers from IKEA to organize my kitchen cabinets. After filling them with spices I found it not quite accessible, it was difficult to find that one container I was looking for and containers falling down as I had them stacked up due to space constraints. So, I thought these cereal boxes will be a perfect solution to organize the spice containers and to make it easy for access. Let's see how I did it.

how to build a spice rack for kitchen cabinets using cereal box. Meaningful cereal box crafts.

Materials Used:
Cereal boxes
Ruler
Marker
Stapler
Scissors
Contact paper(Optional)

Step 1: Measure the height and width required for the highest rack and select the appropriate cereal box. The height of the highest cereal box should be in such a way that when you keep the spice container you should have some space above so it will be easy for you to take the container outside without moving any container nearby.
Use a ruler and mark the measurements and the cereal box and cut using the scissors. It took some trials for me to finalize the height.

Step 2: Once the first rack is done, take another cereal box and repeat the same step. This time reduce the height by 1.25". This height suits for the IKEA spice containers that I have but might vary on the type of container you own. Try to cut the second rack with a difference of 1" and see how it looks. If you are not satisfied then trim by 0.25" to check again. Do this until you are satisfied. Once you are okay with it. Cut the third rack with the same height difference.

Step 3: If the width of the cereal box is larger than required, cut the extra leaving one inch. Score a line using a craft knife. Use scissors to cut flaps till the marked line and fold the flaps to close the side of the cereal box. Use tape or stapler to secure the side.
Arrange the steps next to each other, use glue or stapler them together. Cover it with a contact paper or use mod podge & scrapbook sheet to cover the steps if desired. Your 3-tier spice rack is now ready to organize.

I used contact paper to cover the cereal boxes.
